Not dead, just limping.

If anyone is still interested in this project, it is still ongoing.

I had a lot less free time after the Christmas holidays, and I found myself with the hardest parts still ahead of me. I am working on getting all the basic systems integrated and running. It turned out to be quite complicated, as I had to do a lot of research on how to integrate things in the way I wanted to, instead of just taking complete, already working blocks and using them. (Obviously the worst choice for a noob to make). What it turned out to be is a horrible amalgam of spaghetti code that will probably explode one day, but for now - it just works.

So far, I have rewritten the combat system, added a quest system and a relationship system, reworked the shop system, and added an equipment system to the character menu. Plus a little bit of fine-tuning of the code here and there as I get more experience with it.

As for when the next release will be, I still have no idea. At this point, it will probably be next Christmas by the time I have managed to finish the framework, and then add to the story. Because of all the time that has passed, I would like to at least finish the whole part of Mondstadt and release a version 1.0.

My hope is that I will be faster than that, but I do not want to make promises I cannot keep. Hopefully it will be worth it.

Nice to see your still working on it, I checked for an update every few weeks and its good to see this is still being worked on

My original idea was to release a mini-version whenever I added enough material. But the situation became more complicated after I switched from pure Ren'py code to adding Python. Now, virtually every change requires a complete restart of the game, and doing that is a pain in the neck enough for me, let alone a player.

So before releasing a new version, I decided to wait until I get to a point where a player can play a relatively large portion of the game. That way I can make changes and additions to the game while they have something to do in the meantime.

I am I’m just waiting for the updates to go out and also take your time there isn’t a need to rush

Thank you for your patience and understanding. I have just finished what I hope are the final changes to the quest system.

(I lost two hours because of a bug, only to find out that I had to start a new game to get the changes to work. This is one of the reasons why I do not want to release another 0.x version before I have finished the base systems with the 1.0 version.)

Now I need to create some quests to test it and the new combat system. Then, theoretically, it should just be a matter of writing the story. Although there will inevitably be some tweaking and refining to do. More advanced features will be left for the 1.1 release and beyond.
